The editor, off the record
Off deadline I’m in a Hà Nội café arguing with my own drafts, or out with a film camera after the streetlights come on. Friends call me Ryan; the byline says Nguyễn Nghĩa.
On the record: International Relations and Journalism at the Academy of Journalism and Communications, a bilingual desk at VnExpress, then the tech desk at Kenh14, where I edited five hundred-odd pieces and set up the desk’s AI workflows. These days I write on my own byline and run HalloCreative, a six-person studio.
